Enabling older and disabled people to stay in their own homes

Life Improving Advice for Over 65s

A new guide gives practical advice to retired people about a wide range of issues, including making your home safer and easier to manage.

The book is also a resource for relatives, volunteers, and professionals who are involved with older people.

Independent Age, a London based charity, has launched its Wise Guide which is available free on request.

The Wise Guide gives advice in jargon-free plain English and also provides contact details of agencies and organisations who can help take the advice forward. Chapter Two: Help on the Home Front is full of useful information about maintaining your home and includes contact details for Care and Repair central offices in England, Wales and Scotland.

Whether you want to pay less on the train or find an NHS dentist, avoid a fall or get out of debt, install a walk-in shower of find a cleaner, Wise Guide has the answer.
