Enabling older and disabled people to stay in their own homes

Age, Home and Community

Care and Repair Scotland welcomes the publication of the Scottish Government's 10 year strategy for housing Scotland's older people.

The Strategy for Housing for Older People: 2012-2021 was launched by Keith Brown MSP, Minister for Housing and Transport at Queens Cross Housing Association on Tuesday 20th December.

The Strategy recognises that most people want to remain living at home as they get older. Scottish Government faces the challenges of an ageing population combined with a reduction of public resources but it also recognises that the majority of the population will live in houses that are already built. The Strategy therefore focuses on supporting people to adapt, maintain and repair their existing property.

Care and Repair services are highlighted throughout the document and several examples of good practice from the sector are featured.
