Enabling older and disabled people to stay in their own homes

Angus Care and Repair

There have been some confusing messages circulating on social media about the future of Angus Care and Repair.

Many people have the impression that Angus Council has closed the Care and Repair service.

The position is that Angus Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership agreed to fund Care and Repair and the adaptations service for a 5-year term. Because of the level of funding, over £5M, it was necessary to tender for the service.  Angus Care & Repair, once it had taken the opportunity to review the tender documents, gave notice to Angus Council and AHSCP on 27 March that it was terminating the current service level agreement (SLA) for provision of a Care and Repair service in Angus on 29 June 2019.

The Council and HSCP have therefore made interim arrangements for providing continuity of service through an established alternative provider. The live tender continues, although the priority of maintaining continuity of service is likely to have some impact on timescales.

Angus Council has involved Care and Repair Scotland in the tender process, and we had input to all the draft documents.

The Council and the HSCP remain committed to the benefits that an effective Care and Repair service offers homeowners in Angus, and Care and Repair Scotland will maintain our efforts to support them and the new provider once a decision is made about a new provider.
