CIH Scotland announces details for special Scottish Housing Day event at University of Stirling

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Scotland is pleased to announce the details for a special event to celebrate Scottish Housing Day, which this year focuses on the theme of ‘homes for life.’

The event is free to attend and will take place at the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre on Scottish Housing Day on Wednesday 18 September.

Commenting on the event, CIH Scotland’s policy and practice manager and chair of the Scottish Housing Day working group Ashley Campbell said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Stirling, and others, to hold a special event to celebrate this year’s Scottish Housing Day.

“We want to encourage people to think about housing for people in later life as we facilitate a nationwide discussion on housing needs and how we can plan for the future – as individuals, communities, housing organisations and policy makers.

“This event will see the launch of a special report on the subject of ‘homes for life’, informed by feedback from both the housing sector and members of the public, and delegates will also get the chance to hear from the Minister for Housing Paul McLennan MSP on the importance of housing in supporting people throughout life as their needs and priorities change.”

Vikki McCall, Professor of Social Policy at the University of Stirling and Chair of the event, said: “Our researchers at Stirling are leaders in the areas of healthy ageing and housing, so we are delighted to be hosting Scottish Housing Day 2024. We hope the event will shine a spotlight on the housing challenges facing our communities in Scotland at all stages of their lives.”
